HealthEast Sports Center west rink to get new equipment

Body:

The west hockey rink at HealthEast Sports Center will get new a new glass system and dasher boards by next winter.

The Woodbury City Council approved the $113,752 purchase that will replace the rink's current system, which was installed nearly 22 years ago.

The HealthEast Sports Center fund in the 2018-2022 budget will cover the cost.

The new equipment will be about a foot taller than existing equipment, which will improve spectator safety, according to a city memo.

Installation for the new equipment will take place April 2018, when the rink will close for maintenance.
