Woodbury welcomed three new police officers last week.

Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens swore in Robin Kivel, Jonathan Miller and Michael Flansburg Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the council chambers, where the officers' families and friends watched and celebrated.

Kivel joins the force after working in Spring Valley, Wis. and as a Pierce County sheriff's deputy since 1999. She received her own badge last week marking her start as a Woodbury police officer.

Miller has traveled all over, from California to Pakistan and the Philippines. He was a community service officer in New Hope and has firefighter experience as well. He also received his own badge and number in the roster.

Flansburg left a career in electronics engineering to study criminal justice. He's due to complete his masters in October. Flansburg joins Woodbury with experience at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
