UPDATE: Ramsey County to handle Pulkrabek arrest case

Any possible criminal charges stemming from Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek's Monday arrest for alleged domestic assault will be handled by the Ramsey County Attorney's Office.

Pulkrabek, 41, was arrested by Woodbury police at 4:45 p.m. at 10993 Oak Grove Circle Apt. A. He was booked into the Washington County Jail on suspicion of felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor fifth-degree domestic assault.

A jail spokesperson said Pulkrabek posted $25,000 bail at 8 p.m. Monday. Pulkrabek could not be reached for comment Tuesday morning.

Details about the arrest were not immediately available.

Washington County Attorney Pete Orput said Tuesday morning that he would forward the case to Ramsey County for consideration of charges.

"It's obviously a conflict," Orput said of his office handling the case. "We're going to have them review it."

Pulkrabek represents Washington County District 2, which includes Oakdale, Lake Elmo, Landfall and the northeast part of Woodbury. First elected to the County Board in 1998, Pulkrabek was re-elected to a fourth term last fall by defeating Lake Elmo Mayor Dean Johnston. He previously served as Oakdale mayor from 1995 to 1998.

Pulkrabek's wife, Lori, is an Oakdale City Council member.
