Valley Crossing named a "family-friendly school"
The Minnesota Parent Center, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education, has named Valley Crossing Community School a family-friendly school.
"Family-friendly schools" are recognized for efforts to create a family-school partnership and a warm, welcoming environment for families.
"Valley Crossing creates a community with real parent involvement and a feeling of support" said Toni Malone, a Valley Crossing parent who nominated the school for the award. "It is a school of high energy with happy families and happy, quality teachers."
In order to nominate a school, parents or teachers must answer a variety of questions relating to the school.
"Schools that invite parents to be partners in education realize that families play an important role in student success," said Heather Kilgore, director of Minnesota Parent Center. "We applaud these schools, along with the parents of their students, for demonstrating what strong school-family partnerships can achieve."
