Stillwater school district finds new home for early childhood education center
The Stillwater Area School District is getting closer to securing a new home for its Early Childhood Family Center.
District 834's school board voted April 8 to approve a $3.15 million-purchase agreement for a site located on Greenly Street South in Stillwater. The new home for the ECFE is a former Goodwill location.
The purchase agreement includes the main building, a storage facility and two vacant lots. The money for the purchase of the property will come from a $1 million donation that the district received in 2009.
Additionally Johnson Kellogg Properties, LLC will donate a third building to the ECFC.
District 834 will remodel the main building in order to house its growing ECFC program, as well as its Early Childhood Special Education program.
The donated building will be set aside to potentially house existing district programs, as well as to allow for future growth.
The final purchase of the property will be dependent on zoning, financing and review by the Minnesota Department of Education.
