District will close on land for middle school
A closing is planned this week for South Washington County Schools' purchase of land for the new Oltman Middle School.
The district is scheduled to close on 57.14 acres from Bailey Nurseries on July 20, Superintendent Keith Jacobus said. The district is buying the land for $5.14 million.
The property is southeast of the intersection of 65th Street and Geneva Avenue in northwest Cottage Grove, near where Cottage Grove, Woodbury, Newport and St. Paul Park meet.
Land acquisition and construction is being funded through a $96 million bond measure voters approved in November 2015.
The new Oltman is scheduled to open in fall 2018. The existing building in St. Paul Park will be remodeled to house the Nuevas Fronteras Spanish immersion school, which shares a building with Crestview Elementary School in Cottage Grove.
