Four schools will be closed to intradistrict transfers

Four District 833 schools likely will be closed to intradistrict transfers next year due to space constraints.

According to a transfer and open enrollment policy expected to be approved by the School Board Dec. 17, transfers will not be approved to: Liberty Ridge and Bailey elementary schools; Lake Middle School; and East Ridge High School.

Students approved for an intradistrict transfer do not need to reapply each year they are in that school.

“Basically they become part of that building,” Assistant Superintendent Julie Nielsen said during a Dec. 3 presentation.

A lottery process is used when more students seek a transfer than there is space available in the school they want to attend.

Intradistrict transfer applications for elementary schools should be submitted by March 1. Secondary schools are accepted up until the first day of school, as space permits.

Open enrollment for non-District 833 students is not available next year at: Liberty Ridge, Middleton and Bailey elementary schools; Cottage Grove and Lake middle schools; and East Ridge and Woodbury high schools.
