Inspection yields high marks for bus fleet

School District 833’s bus fleet not only passed its recent state inspection, but also had a perfect safety score.

Every one of the more than 140 buses and vehicles was approved during the recent annual Minnesota Department of Transportation inspection. It was the fifth straight year all South Washington County Schools vehicles passed.

It also was the fourth straight year that no safety points were deducted on any of the vehicles, Superintendent Keith Jacobus reported to the School Board last week.

“It’s a tremendous accolade and very impressive,” Jacobus said.

Transportation Department staff were commended, including: director Ron Meyer; maintenance and safety manager Andy Smith; head shop mechanic Cory Ebsen; and mechanics Dennis Johnson, Marlon Jones, Dale Schmitz and Rick Sortor.
