Woodbury honored its veterans today.

At Woodbury High School, one of several schools celebrating Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the ceremony featured the school’s concert band, symphony orchestra and choir performing patriotic songs such as the “Star Spangled Banner,” the “Armed Forces Salute” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

The event also featured the school’s Air Force Junior ROTC program conducting a flag folding ceremony, which ended with a ceremonial flag being presented to Tom Grezek, Post Commander of The American Legion Post 501.

A rifle ceremony and a performance of Taps were also featured in last week’s celebration.

Several veterans from The American Legion, the community and the school were recognized as honored guests during the ceremony.

Valley Crossing Community School also recognized its veterans in a ceremony last Wednesday.

During the ceremony members of the Boy Scouts of America presented the flag, which was then followed by a guest speaker.

Students at the school were encouraged to invite members of their family, who are veterans, to accompany them to the assembly.
