Lake Middle School's Roeske taking temporary reins at East Ridge
A longtime School District 833 administrator will lead East Ridge High School for the rest of the year.
Lake Middle School Principal Molly Roeske is serving as interim principal at East Ridge through June 2015.
Roeske fills in following the sudden resignation earlier this month of Aaron Harper, who stepped down after the district investigated a complaint against him. Harper now is the subject of a Woodbury police investigation after the district provided authorities with information alleging Harper misused school district funds.
Roeske has been at Lake Middle School since 2011. She previously was principal at Bailey Elementary School and has a total of 16 years experience in South Washington County Schools, including as a special education teacher and assistant principal. She also worked as a probation officer and social worker.
Filling in for Roeske at Lake Middle School will be Karen Toomey, who previously served as an interim principal at Middleton Elementary School.
“We believe we have a solution that is best for our district during this difficult transition,” Superintendent Keith Jacobus said in a statement. “We acknowledge the challenges around a mid-year change and have confidence in the abilities of both Ms. Roeske and Ms. Toomey to lead the buildings for the remainder of the year. This solution is temporary as we work after the start of the calendar year to find a permanent replacement for East Ridge High School.”
The School Board approved the appointments without discussion Nov. 20.
