WMS' Pines named Nurse of the Year

Woodbury Middle School's nurse received a presigious award last weekend through the March of Dimes.

According to a news release, Theresa Pines, a school nurse who also workds at Next Step Transition Center for South Washington County Schools, was named 2013 Nurse of the Year for Public Health/School Nurse. The award was given Oct. 26 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel as part of the March of Dimes event.

Pines has worked in school nursing for 23 years and received the nomination for her work and research into how brain injuries and concussions impact student learning, the release states.

She was one of several Nurse of the Year winners, who were awarded in 15 categories.
