School board filing opens July 30

There could be new faces on the District 833 School Board next year. Four, four-year seats, and one two-year seat, will be on the November ballot.

The board approved filing dates for candidates during its June 20 meeting. Filing for candidacy will start July 30 and will close at 5 p.m. Aug. 13.

The four-year seats held by incumbents Marsha Adou, Tracy Brunnette, David Kemper and Laurie Johnson will be on the November ballot.

Voters also will fill a two year-seat, currently held by Katy McElwee-Stevens. She was appointed to succeed former  Board Chairwoman Leslee Boyd, who stepped down in January.

Affidavits for candidacy will be available at the District Service Center in Cottage Grove. Candidates can pick up affidavits from the school district clerk. A filing fee of $2 will be charged.
