Two arrested after alleged Woodbury drug deal

An accused crack dealer and his alleged accomplice were arrested Wednesday after a Woodbury drug bust.

The men, Danell Ceaser, of Minneapolis, and Dana Luellen Jr., of New Hope, were each charged Friday with felony cocaine-related charges.

According to a criminal complaint, members of the Washington County Sheriff's Office received contact information for a cocaine dealer.

Officers had the informant contact the person. That person had the informant call a phone number that he said would provide a connection to buy crack cocaine.

According to the complaint, a drug buy was set up Wednesday at the parking lot of Green Mill on Hudson Road, where they agreed to exchange crack for $400 cash.

The controlled buy, which was monitored by investigators, involved the informant buying crack from the passenger, later identified in the complaint as Ceaser. After receiving confirmation of the deal, authorities moved in and arrested Ceaser and Luellen, who were in a green pickup truck.

Ceaser, 32, was found with the $400 buy money in addition to another $818 in cash, according to the complaint.

Ceaser's charge was related to sales of the drug. Luellen was charged with aiding and abetting drug sales and fifth-degree drug possession.

In an interview with police, Ceaser claimed he conducted the exchange on Luellen's behalf and that he was counting the money for Luellen when police stopped them.

Cellphone information revealed it was Ceaser's phone that was used to communicate with the informant, according to the complaint.

Luellen, 42, who was also interviewed by investigators, admitted to possessing the crack pipes that were found in his possession. He denied being a drug dealer but said he is a crack addict, the complaint states.

Luellen told police he gave Ceaser a ride to Woodbury for $20 worth of crack.

Authorities said Ceaser has two prior felony drug convictions in Minnesota.

Both men were released Wednesday from Washington County jail.

Ceaser is due in court again on May 2; Luellen's next hearing is May 30.
