Armed robbery reported in Woodbury

Woodbury police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery case reported Tuesday at a local pizza delivery restaurant.

Officers were called at 9:59 a.m. to Papa John's, 1960 Donegal Drive, for a report of a robbery.

Cmdr. Kris Mienert said a male employee reported that while opening the store for the day, a man entered the restaurant, displayed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.

The employee turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, Mienert said.

She said the suspect reportedly left in a vehicle described as a four-door black or dark-colored sedan.

There were no suspects identified Wednesday afternoon, though Mienert said Woodbury police were checking with other law enforcement agencies in the metro area for similar cases.

She said armed robberies "are not very frequent within the city of Woodbury" and that police are taking the report "very seriously."

The suspect was described as a slender black male in his 20s, approximately 5-foot-4.
