STILLWATER — A Cottage Grove man was sentenced for felony possession of pornographic material this summer.

Alexander Henry Thompson, 20, was sentenced to five years probation and given a stay of imposition for time served, as well as no contact with people under 18 and sex offender training.

Drug charges against Thompson were dismissed.

Timothy Alan Rollins, 22, pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial on charges of felony criminal sexual conduct and dissemination of pornographic material.

The two reportedly exchanged videos depicting a man police believed to be Rollins sexually assaulting a 13-year-old.

The two were arrested in connection to each other last November.

According to their criminal complaints:

Thompson and another man were arrested during a drug sting stemming from an anonymous tip Nov. 9, 2017.

Police who searched Thompson's phone found multiple nude photos and videos of a juvenile, according to the complaint.

One video showed the juvenile interacting with what appeared to be an adult male.

The complaint states Thompson said he believed the people in the video were 18, but had received the videos from Rollins.

Thompson also told police Rollins had been having a sexual relationship with the juvenile for about a year and proposed Thompson join them in sexual activity, according to the complaint.

Thompson told police he declined the invitation.

The video was dated from the previous summer, when the juvenile was 12 years old.

Cottage Grove police arrested Rollins Nov. 10, 2017 at his home, where officers recognized several items from the videos on Thompson's phone, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint states Rollins told police he had sexual relations with the juvenile.

According to the complaint, Rollins told police he had been sharing videos of the encounter with Thompson and had "a lot" of child pornography on his computer.
