EMS Memorial Bike Ride ends in Woodbury

Woodbury will anchor the 2016 Midwest Route National EMS Memorial Bike Ride when it ends on June 30.

The ride starts with orientation on June 25 in Northbrook, Ill., near Chicago, and culminates six days later at the Woodbury Public Safety Memorial next to Woodbury City Hall, 2100 Radio Drive.

The ride honors and celebrates the lives of EMS providers who were dedicated to EMS or have died while performing their duties. Funds raised during the ride will benefit the families of fallen EMS practitioners through the Fallen Angel Fund.

On the final day of bicycling, participants arrive in Woodbury at 3 p.m., on a strenuous road-cycling route from Lake City, Minn. There is no cost to attend the 3:30 p.m. ceremony at the public safety memorial.

Riders donate a minimum of $200 and volunteers give at least $20 each.

The National EMS Memorial Bike Ride — which also offers East Coast, West Coast, Colorado and Southern routes — is a nonprofit organization.
