Charges: Officer witnesses two-minute drug exchange

Timothy Paul Schulze, 52, of St. Paul was charged with fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine.

He is out on bail and due back in Washington County District Court next month.

According to the complaint:

On Oct. 13, 2015, a police officer parked near the Red Roof Inn and at 8:31 a.m. watched two vehicles conduct a short-term meeting. A woman put her hand up to the open window of Schulze’s truck before the truck and the woman’s car left the motel parking lot.

The officer pulled over Schulze’s truck after noticing the truck had a broken brake light and that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Schulze acted nervous when questioned.

When asked what the woman gave him, Schulze said she threw a cup into his car and he didn’t know why.

A K-9 team was called to the stop location and the dog alerted to narcotics in the vehicle.

Police found a cup containing a crystal-like substance under the driver’s seat.
