Washington ranks No. 8 among most dangerous drunk-driving counties
Washington County ranks No. 8 among Minnesota’s most dangerous drunk-driving counties.
The Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety annually updates the top 25 list based on drunk driving-related deaths and alcohol-related serious injuries, and Washington was among 25 counties that received federal funding for increased DWI enforcement from October 2015 through September 2016.
The most dangerous counties accounted for 61 percent of the state’s drunk driving-related deaths and 74 percent of the state’s alcohol-related serious injuries from 2012-2014.
While the number of drunk driving incidents remains a major concern, a downward trend indicates people are getting the message to plan a sober ride through education and enforcement.
