Woodbury suspect, 18, accused of possessing child porn

A Woodbury teenager made his initial appearance last week in St. Croix County Circuit Court on allegations that he possessed nude photos of a juvenile girl with whom he was caught in the backseat of a vehicle in Hudson.

Ryan M. Zinkgraf, 18, was charged Aug. 25 with one count of felony child pornography possession and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior, a misdemeanor.

He made his initial appearance Aug. 26 and is set to appear for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 10.

The charges stemmed from an Aug. 14 incident at the Hudson YMCA, following a report of suspicious activity in an SUV parked there.

According to a criminal complaint:

The officer went up to the vehicle, at first not seeing anyone. Upon closer inspection, the officer found two people in the back of the SUV.

The male, later identified as Zinkgraf, was found wearing only his boxer shorts. A 14-year-old girl was found topless, according to the report.

They were allowed to dress before being questioned.

Zinkgraf told the officer the two had been cuddling and kissing. He said he and the girl had been dating for six months and that the relationship was not sexual.

The officer asked to look through Zinkgraf’s phone. He allowed the officer to browse photos.

The officer asked if the phone would contain any photos of the girl in an undressed state. Zinkgraf said those photos were in the phone, and that they had been sent to him by the girl.

A search of the phone turned up nude photos of the girl, which she said she had sent to Zinkgraf.

Zinkgraf told the officer he and the girl were not parked there for sex, but rather to pop his pimples -- “that it was something she liked to do,” the report states. He said that was what accounted for his state of undress; the girl was mostly nude because of the heat in the SUV, Zinkgraf explained.

“His intent was to listen to music, pop pimples and cuddle,” the complaint states.

The girl told police that Zinkgraf fondled her in the vehicle -- an action Zinkgraf later admitted to, and demonstrated in front of police.

He later admitted to parking in the YMCA lot about 10 times prior with the girl, but said no sexual activity occurred during those encounters.

Zinkgraf was arrested and declined to provide any more information to officers.
