Suspected robbery accomplice arrested

Woodbury police announced Sunday that the suspected accomplice in a deadly weekend robbery attempt has been arrested.

According to Woodbury Public Safety Department spokeswoman Michelle Okada, police on Sunday arrested Minneapolis resident Erick Larkins. The 46-year-old was arrested in Minneapolis by Woodbury police and jailed in Stillwater on suspicion of aiding and abetting robbery in the first degree.

Woodbury police were alerted to Larkins' precence after witnessing the vehicle -- the license plate of which had been widely disseminated by authorities -- in Minneapolis' fourth precinct, according to a news release.

Police had been searching for the suspect since Saturday morning, when another man entered Johnson Jewelers on Radio Drive and attempted to rob the store. The man encountered a Woodbury police officer during the incident and shot himself before leaving the store.

That man's identity has not yet been released.
