Prison time ordered in Woodbury robbery case

An Oakdale man was sentenced to prison time for a robbery conviction stemming from a Woodbury incident.

Eric Martinez, 38, was convicted in a May 2012 robbery case that occurred along Woodlane Drive.

The victim told police that he was walking down the sidewalk when he was approached by a man – later identified as Martinez – who offered to sell him drugs. After the victim declined the offer, Martinez threatened to hurt the man and demanded he turn over his possessions, which included an iPhone, a money clip and credit cards.

Police located Martinez in St. Paul by tracking the iPhone. Martinez reportedly told police “I give up” after being discovered.

He was sentenced to 50 months – two-thirds of which must be served in prison.
