Charges pending against Hastings mother who left her child in the car while she worked out

Charges are pending against a Hastings woman who left her young child in the back seat of her car while she went into a health club on South Frontage Road to work out on June 2.

The woman told police she had her son with her at work. As she was driving to the club, he fell asleep. She thought it would be OK to leave him in the car while she worked out, according to the police report. Three windows in the car were open about six inches. The temperature outside was 75 degrees.

A caller reported seeing the child crying in the back seat. It was estimated the child was in the back seat of the car for about 25 to 30 minutes.
