Late night cravings, diaper runs and prescription pickups just got a little easier.

A new service dubbed Delivery Fix recently began operating in Woodbury, providing delivery services to a number of local restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies.

Restaurant takeout makes up the majority of Delivery Fix’s business, owner Mark Hudnall said, adding that he decided to expand the business into Woodbury when he recognized the need for it.

The River Falls resident said he and a couple of friends came up with the idea six years ago while watching the Super Bowl and wishing they had Mexican food from a restaurant that didn’t deliver.

“We started it because we did see a need especially when it’s cold and the restaurants that people like the most didn’t offer delivery,” he said. “We said there has got to be a better way to create a service for people who want something delivered.”

Delivery Fix first started out in Eau Claire, Wis., then Hudson and River Falls before moving across the St. Croix River into Woodbury.

Here is how it works: Customers either call in and place their orders and ask for it delivered by Delivery Fix. Or they can go on Delivery Fix’s website to check out menus for featured restaurants and go from there. Other non-featured restaurants are also listed but without menus.

“The restaurant delivery is our main service that we provide,” Hudnall said, but added other errands could also be run.

“It could be picking up at Walgreens in Woodbury, or a nursing home in Hudson,” he said. “There is about seven different nursing homes we do a lot of deliveries for.”

Delivery Fix works out a deal with featured restaurants. The fee is $4.99 plus tax for orders of less than $50 from featured restaurants and $6.99 from non-featured establishments.

Featured restaurants in Woodbury include Duc’s, Lakes Tavern and Grill, Sole Mio, Angelina’s Kitchen and Carmine’s.

One of the owners at Carmine’s said the service has worked well for the restaurant without having to hire additional help.

“It’s a nice convenience for customers especially during winter time,” Dave Hafiz said. “It just works out better for us where we don’t have to bring in extra employees.”

Hudnall said most of the deliveries have been from non-fast food restaurants and that he’s looking to partner with more featured restaurants.

“Woodbury has the potential; we can be doing hundreds of deliveries a day in Woodbury,” he said, noting that they’re available 24 hours a day.

“If somebody needs McDonald’s at 2 a.m., we can deliver it to them,” Hudnall said. “It’s happened.”

Delivery Fix will also do grocery runs and other errands for busy moms chasing young toddlers who can’t find babysitters.

Grocery deliveries are $9.99 for up to $50 of food.

“We had a mother call us in December. She ran out of diapers at 1 a.m.,” Hudnall said. “We went into Walmart, picked up some diapers for her and brought it to her. And she tipped the driver pretty well.”
