Five hospitalized after weekend crash on I-94 in Woodbury

Woodbury emergency workers were busy Saturday afternoon responding to two crashes in less than an hour, including a rollover on Interstate 94.

The first crash was reported at 1:29 p.m. on I-94 just west of I-494. According to a police report, three vehicles were involved in the crash; one vehicle overturned as a result of the collision.

Five patients were transported to Woodwinds Health Campus, according to a Minnesota State Patrol accident report.

The crash occurred when one of the motorists, identified as Landfall resident Lynette Elsola, stopped for debris in the lane. Her vehicle was rearended by a vehicle driven by Pao Vue of St. Paul and overturned during the crash. The collision sent a third vehicle, driven by Rice Lake, Wis., resident Peter Davidson, into the median.

Davidson and a passenger were transported by ambulance to Woodwinds; Elsola and two passenger also were taken away by ambulance. There were no serious injuries, the report states.

The second crash was reported at 2:09 p.m. at Lenscrafters, 8362 Tamarack Village, when a Woodbury woman's vehicle smashed into the front of the business. The driver told police she felt the car lurch forward and collide with the building. The woman was not injured, though her vehicle sustained serious damage. Police said the building did not receive structural damage from the crash.
