Oakdale man dies in collision

An Oakdale man died after a two-vehicle crash last Thursday in Cottage Grove, the Minnesota State Patrol said early Friday.

Dwayne W. Johnson, 87, died of injuries sustained in the afternoon collision at Manning Avenue and 70th Street on the eastern border of Cottage Grove.

According to the State Patrol:

Johnson was driving a Chevy Impala southbound on Manning Avenue when he failed to stop at the intersection with 70th Street. The Impala broadsided a Chevy Silverado truck driven by Alan J. Horwath, 53, of Woodville, Wis., in the intersection. Horwath was eastbound on 70th Street and turning north on Manning Avenue.

The crash was reported at 3:26 p.m.

Both men were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Johnson died that evening, records show.

Horwath suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither driver had been drinking, the State Patrol said.
