Woman, 81, critical after crash in Woodbury

A Woodbury woman was in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash Thursday that also sent three other people to the hospital.

The woman, an 81-year-old traveling in a Ford Taurus, was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul in critical condition. Her husband, aged 83, was also transported to Regions with minor injuries, said Woodbury police officer Scott Melander.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a Woodbury husband and wife – both aged 83 – were transported to United Methodist Hospital in St. Paul. They were in a Ford Focus.

The crash occurred at noon at Hudson Road and CityWalk Drive. Melander said the Taurus was struck while proceeding through a green light at the intersection by the Focus, which had a flashing yellow arrow.

The driver of the Focus will receive a citation, Melander said.
