Letter: Brunette looks for support in Nov. 3 election

As a current member of the District 833 School Board I am passionate about education. It is the best investment we make in our future. My work with Early Childhood Family Education, PTA and district committees, as well as my school board experience have provided me with the opportunity to advocate for this important issue. We have some challenges ahead, as the state is facing another projected deficit. District 833 has been conservative financially so we have been able to weather the funding shifts we have experienced, but it will be an ongoing challenge. As a board member, I will continue to make the best decisions to support student achievement for all students in District 833 with the resources we have. We need to make sure every student receives the best education we can provide. With the support of the community, the board and the administration, we offer more opportunities than ever for our students, including world language, the middle school curriculum and more rigorous course options in our high schools. In 2010, we hope to offer the additional opportunity of the International Baccalaureate program as well. I truly believe that if students are given the opportunity to discover their passions and succeed, that confidence will carry over into all areas of their education and their lives. I am proud of what we have accomplished and would like to continue to advocate for education on behalf of District 833. Please vote for me on Nov. 3.

Tracy Brunette
