Chamber and friends Spring Chamber Concerto concert

Stillwater Area High School musicians will be performing their Spring Chamber Orchestra and Friends Concerto concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 4 at the Historic Courthouse, 101 West Pine Street, Stillwater.

The concert is under the direction of Gerard Jones. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.

This concert will feature the high school's Chamber Orchestra, as well as special guest performers from several elementary schools and Stillwater Junior High. The guest musicians from around the district earned their spot in the concert by winning the Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition held earlier this year.

Soloists to be featured during the concert include Kaija Olson, a sixth-grader from Stonebridge School who will be playing a Bach Minuet; Francesca Zellner, a ninth-grader from Stillwater Junior High School who will be playing the 3rd movement from Vivaldi's D minor Violin Concerto; and Seth Spawn and Jacob Amos, juniors from Stillwater Area High School, who will be playing the first movement from Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto.

Along with accompanying the soloists, the Chamber Orchestra will be playing such great works as Beethoven Symphony No. 5, first movement, Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3.
