'Narnia - The Musical' auditions scheduled
Woodbury Community Theatre will hold open auditions for its summer production of "Narnia - The Musical" on April 13 and 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Auditions are open for youths ages 8 to 18 as well as for adults.
Directed by Laurie Swigart, this play needs to fill the roles of ten males and six females, plus up to 12 extras to dramatize the various good/evil Narnian creatures.
Main characters include Aslan the Great Lion, the White Witch, Tumnus the Faun, Father Christmas, Professor Digory, Peter, Susan, Edmund & Lucy Pevensie, Mrs. Macready, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Dwarf, Fenris Ulf and White Stag.
In addition to the on-stage roles, play organizers are looking for people to help with various behind-the-scene jobs, such as the set crew.
"Narnia - The Musical," is based on the book "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis.
The musical's book is by Jules Tasca, with music by Thomas Tierney and lyrics by Ted Drachman.
Auditions will be held Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14 from 6 to 9 p.m., with callbacks if necessary on Thursday, April 16.
Interested people should attend auditions on either day at Woodbury Baptist Church, 6695 Upper Afton Road, Woodbury.
Auditions will be held in "open audition" format.
Audition participants should arrive at 6 p.m. on the audition date they choose and plan to stay until 9 p.m.
Auditioners are asked to bring the following:
A short, prepared and memorized monologue to recite.
A personal photograph of the participant. It doesn't need to be a professional head shot, just something to be used to identify their application.
A schedule of conflicts that the participant would have during the rehearsal and performance schedule. To be cast, participants will need to have as few conflicts as possible in their schedule.
Homework or another activity to do, as there might be some free time while waiting to audition.
Rehearsal times and format at Woodbury Baptist Church:
Tuesday, April 21, All cast, crew and parent meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 23, All cast for read-through
Monday to Thursday, May 18 to June 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. (a complete schedule will be given to all cast members on the first day of rehearsal)
Performance dates are June 26, 27 and 28 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and June 29, 30 and July 1 from 1 to 3 p.m.
