Baby shower for Tubman at King of Kings Lutheran Church
The "Moms in Faith" ministry team at King of Kings Lutheran Church will host the annual Tubman "April Showers" event on Friday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 1583 Radio Drive in Woodbury.
Diapers, formula, baby blankets, baby toiletries, baby wipes and other baby items are being collected for donation to the Tubman agency and may be dropped off at the church any time. The last day of collection is the April Showers event. Punch, coffee and other baby shower-type snacks will be served throughout the day.
According to information from their website, "Tubman helps women, children, and families struggling with relationship violence, substance abuse, and mental health issues" and provides "safe shelter, legal advocacy, and counseling services across the Twin Cities, guiding and sustaining individuals and families on the journey from chaos and fear to healing and restoration." The organization operates the Hill Home in Lake Elmo and the Anne Pierce Rogers Home in St. Paul Park.
The public is asked to donate individually or to organize a small group, neighbors, friends or co-workers and collect items. Donations requested by the organization include diapers (size 4, 5 and 6 especially) and other new baby items. New and gently used baby clothes and other items are also appreciated. All donations received at King of Kings will go to the east metro shelters. All gifts are tax deductible and monetary donations may be made online at www.tubman.org.
