Former Viking to be prayer breakfast keynote speaker

Organizers of the 2009 Woodbury Prayer Breakfast have announced this year's keynote speaker will be Joe Senser, owner/operator of Joe Senser's Sports Theatres and a former tight-end for the Minnesota Vikings.

The morning will be filled with music, readings and testimonials from area leaders and dignitaries.

The emcee will be Dave Clutter, long-time metro traffic announcer and local radio personality, and will also feature Woodbury Mayor Bill Hargis, who will offer his traditional welcome and opening remarks.

"It is my privilege to stand side by side with civic leaders and east metro residents each year in celebration of community, liberty and the freedom to worship in this great country," Hargis said.

The theme for this year's breakfast is "Seeking God's Direction Through Prayer" for our community.

Attendees will be treated to energetic and uplifting performances by soloists and a community choir accompanied by a full orchestra.

The Woodbury Prayer Breakfast is part of a larger national movement that is taking hold in hundreds of communities across the nation. Modeled after the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., it is held the same time every year along with similar events at the state and local levels.

"The Woodbury Prayer Breakfast is an experience you will not forget" said Mary Giuliani Stephens, chair of the Woodbury Prayer Breakfast Committee. "Joining together for prayer is a powerful way to transform our community while encouraging and inspiring those who attend. From business leaders to parents, students and those serving our country - there will be something meaningful for everyone."

This year's event is set for 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the Prom Center (I-94 at Radio Drive/Inwood) in Oakdale.

Individual tickets are $18.50 and tables of nine are $166.50.

Business sponsorships are available starting at $400. Individual sponsorships start at $100. Both include various forms of sponsor recognition.
