The Woodbury boys hockey team took a one-half game lead over Cretin-Derham Hall in the Suburban East Conference standings heading into a Saturday night showdown against the Raiders after the Royals bested Park, 4-1, while CDH tied Stillwater, 4-4.

Park took a 1-0 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the first period, but Woodbury would counter with two second-period scores from junior forward Colin Keefe to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Forwards Mike Seidel and Tony Pittman each logged tallies in the final frame to finalize matters with Woodbury winning by three goals as goaltender Mike Ness won his seventh game of the year, fourth in conference play.

Woodbury improved to 11-1-1 overall, 5-0 in the SEC, while Cretin fell to 8-4-1 and 4-0-1 in conference play. The two teams will meet at St. Paul's Highland Arena on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.
