Holiday lights tour and contest entry deadline extended

It's never too early to start thinking about the annual holiday lights contest and tour, when dazzling displays of light and color decorate the community, revealing the holiday spirit and creativity of Woodbury residents.

The contest entry deadline has been extended to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4.

Prizes will be awarded to the first place winner in each category. Categories for residential homes include best overall, most creative, best holiday spirit, best theme and rider's choice.

To enter a home in the contest, registration forms are available on the City website and at the park and recreation department, 8301 Valley Creek Road. Entry forms must be submitted to parks and recreation by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4. Judging will take place between 5 and 10 p.m Dec. 12 - 21.

Tickets for the fifth annual Holiday Lights Tour are on-sale beginning Friday, Nov. 28.

This year, riders have the option to choose a 5 p.m. "Family Tour" sponsored by The Little Gym of Woodbury, or The Red Giraffe, a 7:30 p.m. "All Ages" tour sponsored by Kowalski's Market in Woodbury, a 7:30 p.m. tour specifically for persons "55 and better" sponsored by Stonecrest Senior Center in Woodbury, and a 6:30 p.m. "Wine Tasting tour" sponsored by WineStyles of Woodbury.

Tickets for each of these tours are available at the sponsoring businesses, and are $10 per seat. Each passenger will receive a "themed", and guided tour of the holiday lights in Woodbury and a goodie bag filled with a variety of items from supporting businesses. In addition, while aboard the buses, passengers will be randomly selected to win valuable and prizes.
