Scott starring in St. Paul play

Logan Scott of Woodbury will be starring as "Beth" in SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development's production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" by Barbara Robinson.

The play starts Dec. 5 at the group's new theatre in St. Paul.

Scott is a seventh-grader at Mounds Park Academy.

This is not the first production in which Scott has been featured. She was "Grandmother" in Stepping Stone's production of "Petite Rouge -- a Cajun Red Riding Hood." She was also the "Queen of Hearts" in Alice in Wonderland at Mounds Park Academy, and was in "A Native American Cinderella" at her previous school.

Scott is enjoying the part of Beth in particular, as the role is teaching her "different ways to act," said Scott, "because Beth is very calm and understanding. It's exciting working with a different kind of character."

She added, "SteppingStone is really great. It's my favorite environment to act in.

"You can try different things here -- it's more free, you can experiment without being criticized. It gives a lot of people a chance to act. And the people are fun."

One of the things that Scott has learned from acting, is that "people can be a bunch of different people inside, they have different characters each day.

"Acting has really helped me understand that you have to look inside them more, be more understanding."

Scott would like to continue acting, possibly as a career.

"It's awesome," she said.

SteppingStone Theatre's production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" opens Dec. 5 and runs through Dec. 23.
