'The Hanging of the Greens' at Lakeshore Players Theatre
"The Hanging of the Greens," an original children's show based on a legend that holiday greenery protects the home from an evil witch, will be presented at the Lakeshore Players Theatre, 4820 Stewart Avenue, White Bear Lake.
The show runs Dec. 4 to 14 with performances Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., and matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 5 p.m. The Sunday, Dec. 14 show at 2 p.m. will be ASL-interpreted.
Written by White Bear Lake award-winning youth playwright Claudia Haas, the story is based on an old Celtic (and German) legend and brings to life the time-worn tradition of decking the halls during the holidays.
There is a legend that wreaths, swags and garlands must hang on every doorway or window before the arrival of winter to protect the home from "Pinella the Witch" who seeks to steal little children and make them her slaves. But what happens when the children in one home decide to play and dream and shirk their responsibilities?
Tickets are $10 to $12 and may be reserved in advance by calling (651) 429-5674, with remaining seats sold at the door starting two hours prior to show time.
Lakeshore Players is collecting non-perishable items for the White Bear Lake Food Shelf. Through Dec. 14, bring items to Lakeshore Players and enter a drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the next production, "The Murder Room."
