Broadway to Hollywood concert
Charlie Balogh will perform in concert on the Allen theater organ on Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m. at the Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust Street, Hudson, Wis.
Balogh's program will include selections from "Les Miserables," "Phantom," "Cats," "Oklahoma," "New York New York," "Titanic" and other musicals.
For more than 30 years, Balogh has performed for sold-out audiences with his concerts on the Wurlitzer theater pipe organ at Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Ariz., as well as the Roaring 20's and Good Time Charley's restaurants in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He has also performed on three separate occasions for the American Theatre Organ Society's (ATOS) national conventions. He was named organist of the year by ATOS in 2000.
The Phipps Center's Wurlitzer theater pipe organ is currently undergoing a major changeover in its operating system. Not all of the components of the new computer-based control system will be installed by June 7.
Instead, Balogh will be performing on an Allen LL-324Q theater organ, which was recently designed by the organist Lyn Larsen.
It features a three-manual console and the equivalent of 24 ranks of pipes.
Tickets are $21 for adults and $14 for all students with a current ID. Discounts are available by purchasing season tickets.
Reservations may be made by contacting the Phipps ticket office at (715) 386-8409.
