Senior driver programs
The Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department is offering Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center senior driver improvement programs, for those ages 55 and above, in the Valley Creek Room at Central Park, 8595 Central Park Place. Certified consultants teach the classes.
The Senior Driver Improvement Program is held for two consecutive 4-hour days. Driver safety, confidence and comfort are enhanced by utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, including the latest visual scanning and steering techniques, anti-lock braking (ABS) skills, airbag information and new vehicle technology. Persons ages 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10 percent discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years according to Minnesota law. There are no written or behind-the-wheel tests.
The Senior Driver Improvement Refresher course is for students who have previously completed the eight-hour Senior Driver Improvement Program and wish to maintain their eligibility for the insurance discount,
The Senior Driver Improvement Program will be offered March 10 and 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. The cost is $20.
The Senior Driver Improvement Refresher course will be offered March 10 from noon to 4 p.m. The cost is $18.
