Minn. dad, shot in back during Las Vegas shooting, returns home
ST. PAUL -- A St. Paul man who was injured in the Las Vegas mass shooting earlier this month is home and recovering, his family said.
He still has a wound drain in and will have daily home visits from a nurse for awhile, but his sister-in-law Sheila Aurich said the family is “all very excited about this huge step in his recovery.”
Philip Aurich, a father of two, was at a country music concert when a gunman opened fire, killing 58 and injuring more than 500.
Aurich was shot in the lower back and for a few days following the shooting was in critical condition. He underwent two surgeries, but doctors remained optimistic about his chances.
Sheila Aurich posted a Facebook status updating friends of his condition on Monday night and asking well-wishers to be patient as Philip Aurich continues his recovery at home.
The Aurichs have directed those interested in donating to the family of Steve Berger, a Minnesotan who was killed in the shooting.
