Weather service warns of wildfire conditions

The combination of low humidity, strong winds and dry vegetation mean that between noon and 7 p.m. Thursday the conditions will be ripe for dangerous wildfires, the National Weather Service is warning.

Southeast winds will increase to around 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, according to the weather service. The red flag warning is in effect for much of central, south central and east central Minnesota, from Staples and Mille Lacs Lake on the north side, extending south to the Iowa border, according to the National Weather Service.
