Phipps events include holiday show, silent movie and ballroom dance

The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust Street, Hudson, Wis. will host two events Saturday, Dec. 19.

- Lance Luce, an internationally acclaimed theater organist, will play holiday selections on the Wurlitzer theater pipe organ in a performance that begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for all students with a current ID.

Luce's program will include "Sleigh Ride," "White Christmas," "Silver Bells," "O Holy Night," "Brazilian Sleigh Bells," "Do You Hear What I Hear" and "Mary's Little Boy Child" as well as sing-along's to popular favorites and carols. In addition, he will accompany Laurel and Hardy's short silent comedy "Big Business," in which the boys try to sell Christmas trees in sunny California.

Luce served as head staff organist for Radio City Music Hall early in his career and has played hundreds of concerts all over the United States, Canada, England and Australia. His performances appeal to audiences of all ages and contain a wide variety of musical styles.

- A ballroom dance party will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $12 per person and no registration is required.

Tom Larson, owner of a ballroom and wedding dance studio in Minneapolis, will offer a ballroom and Latin dance lesson during the first hour and participants will have the opportunity to try out new dance skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
