Musical hosts opening night event and third grade guests

"Seussical: the Musical!" will be presented by East Ridge High School at the school's Loft stage Nov. 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 8, 14, and 15 at 2 p.m.

The production features a collection of the late Dr. Seuss's most-loved characters including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Sour Kangaroo, General Ghengis Khan Schmitz, and a plethora of Whos.

Tickets for the production may be purchased online at or through the box office phone line at (651) 768-2360. Advanced purchase tickets cost $7 for students/seniors and $9 for adults. Tickets purchased at the door cost $8 for students/seniors and $10 for adults.

A formal opening night gala will be held Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the gala event cost $15 for students and $20 for adults. Guests attending the gala will be treated with appetizers, beverages, musicians, a silent auction, professional photos and more, followed by the opening night production.

The school is located at 4200 Pioneer Drive, Woodbury.

Also, winners of a School District 833 literacy contest will have the oppportunity to appear in the opening of a performance.

Third grade students were asked to track the number of pages they read each night and the winner from each of the district's fifteen elementary schools will be given two tickets, a Seussical T-shirt and will play a part in the opening of the show for one performance.
