Explore the Christian faith at 'Alpha'

Resurrection Lutheran Church, 9925 Bailey Road, Woodbury, will begin a 10-week Alpha course on Monday evenings beginning Sept. 21. Weekly sessions begin with a supper at 6 p.m., followed by large-group learning time, and end with small-group discussions and interaction. There is no charge for the Alpha course but a contribution for the meals is welcomed.

Basic questions of the Christian faith are addressed in the course, such as "Who is Jesus?" "Why and how should I read the Bible?" and "Does God still heal today?"

Alpha Express, a condensed version of Alpha, will be offered on Wednesdays, noon to 1:15 p.m., beginning Sept. 16.

Alpha, according to organizers, "is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions. It is low-key, friendly and fun - and is supported by all the main Christian denominations."

Childcare is provided for both sessions.

Anyone wanting to learn more about the Alpha program is encouraged to attend the Alpha introductory dinner on Sunday, Sept. 13, 6 p.m. at the church. Reservations for the dinner should be made by Sept. 9 to the church at (651) 730-1000.

More information about the course is available at

Call the church by Sept. 13 to register for either course.
