Bark For Life raises $2,500

Body:

Growling, rolling over, doing stupid human tricks, and chasing tails for prizes.

Last Saturday, 35 dogs and 50 people attended an American Cancer Society fundraiser that included an opening ceremony, a circuitous walk around Ojibway Park, vendor booths, playing on the playground and in the grass, beautiful weather, a silent auction and prizes.

Local Relay For Life organizers hold the annual Bark For Life as a way to recognize dogs for their caregiving qualities.

The event, which raised $2,500 this year, is a precursor to the annual Relay For Life, which seeks a cure for cancer.

Bark For Life's motto is "A Cure—it's PAWSible."

Relay For Life South Washington County is scheduled to take place starting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 10, at East Ridge High School. The event runs until 6 a.m. Saturday, June 11.
