The new school year will bring about a lot of changes to District 833 — new attendance boundaries, new grade configurations, a transition from a junior to a middle school and a new high school — that have been met with a variety of positive and negative reactions.
This is the first column of many that will be prepared as I begin working in a new capacity for the South Washington County Schools. It is appropriate in that regard that the information shared be about the achievement of students across the district.

Assistant Superintendent Mark Porter, who has been hired to take the job of superintendent of School District 833 at the end of June, will make $159,900, according to the contract approved by the school board, Feb. 17.
