It’s been 70 years since John Merthan and Gene Heiberger, both residents of Stonecrest Senior Living in Woodbury, woke up to the sounds of war on Dec. 7, 1941 – the day Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese – and both men can remember the events of the “date which will live in infamy” like it was yesterday.
Woodbury resident Luli Flores-Hanson, knows the members of Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines could be sleeping more comfortably. In an effort to make the soldiers’ lives a little less primitive, she has organized a locally based care-package drive.
The Woodbury Community Foundation has teamed up with the Minnesota Agribusiness Development Team (ADT) Family Readiness Group to collect donations to be included in stockings to be mailed over to the National Guard unit.
