I encourage ELCA leaders in our community to seek out the wisdom of Jesus, and to ask themselves also, “are we not being hypocritical by preventing access to the clergy for gay and lesbian people while we currently support the ordination of women and divorced people, which technically are also violations of a ‘literal translation’ of the scripture?”

At least two area churches are reviewing their affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), following a vote to allow gays and lesbians who are in monogamous relationships to serve as clergy, if called by a church.
The King of Kings Lutheran Church senior high school age youth group is getting support from local restaurants to help raise funds to support their trip to the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer.
