The 2009 campaign came to a bitter end for the Woodbury baseball team as the Royals lost their second straight game in the Section 4AAA playoffs and were eliminated from the postseason. Fifth-seeded WHS followed up a 6-4 loss at No. 4 Hill-Murray on Tuesday with a 6-5 defeat at the hands of No. 7 Roseville on Wednesday at Royals Field. Kyle Kronforst (pictured) and his Woodbury teammates wrapped the season with a 14-9 record.
Nicole Dupay and the Woodbury softball team won their third game in a row in the postseason opener, 12-1, over St. Paul Highland Park in the team's home finale Monday night.
It was the third victory in a row for the sixth-seeded Royals, who advance to play third-seeded Stillwater in the second round today at 4:30 p.m. at McKnight Fields in North St. Paul.
If Woodbury wins, they will advance to the winner's bracket semifinals on May 21. A Royals loss will put them into an elimination game to be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
The Woodbury boys tennis team saw their team season come to an end on Thursday with a 5-2 loss at Eastview in the Section 3AA playoff opener. It's now on to individual sectional play with Jason Brooks (pictured) beginning competition as 3AA's top seed on May 22.
