It's all over for Woodbury PressPass

It's all over for Woodbury The 2009 season came to an end for Corie Niesen (pictured) and the Woodbury softball team as the Royals lost back-to-back games in the second round of the sectional tournament and were eliminated from postseason play. Woodbury fell to Suburban East Conference rivals Stillwater and Cretin-Derham Hall on Tuesday evening in North St. Paul and wrapped up this year's campaign with a record of 9-14.

Royals roll in softball opener PressPass

Royals roll in softball opener Nicole Dupay and the Woodbury softball team won their third game in a row in the postseason opener, 12-1, over St. Paul Highland Park in the team's home finale Monday night. It was the third victory in a row for the sixth-seeded Royals, who advance to play third-seeded Stillwater in the second round today at 4:30 p.m. at McKnight Fields in North St. Paul. If Woodbury wins, they will advance to the winner's bracket semifinals on May 21. A Royals loss will put them into an elimination game to be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Schmidt, Pastrik combine on a no-hitter in 4A opener PressPass

Schmidt, Pastrik combine on a no-hitter in 4A opener Danielle Schmidt and Amanda Pastrik teamed up to no-hit PACT Charter in a 13-0 win for the New Life Academy softball team in the Section 4A playoff opener on Thursday at the Bielenberg Sports Center. Schmidt (pictured) also tallied four runs batted in on a 2-for-3 day at the plate. With the victory, the top-seeded Eagles advanced to play No. 9 Providence Academy on Saturday at the Mendakota Fields Complex in Mendota Heights.
