Letter to the editor: Effort has been to challenge, not placate, readers
Qin Tang (“Searching for the Point,” June 27) apparently thinks readers neither “understand” my Bulletin submissions nor “enjoy” reading them. She then disparagingly implies that I live in an ivory tower (shudder!) and, even worse, that I lack “common sense.” This coming from someone whose platitudinous hearts and flowers musings are featured in the online editions of the Bulletin. That notwithstanding, however, it is not my intention to turn Tang’s remarks back on herself.

Soucheray: Life in today's 7/11 world
There used to be a store called 7-11, today’s date, and it was one of the first, if not the first, small, corner grocery-and-gas stores in the Twin Cities that opened and operated to provide convenience about 30 years ago.

SOUCHERAY: Grandparents reap what they sow
I may be shameless, or brazen and unabashed, but I am so taken with our 10-month old grandson, there simply are not words to describe it.

Letter to the editor: ‘Big Money’ analysis misconstrued argument
Now I get it. Until I read Joyce Denn’s recent letter to the Bulletin (“Dayton, unions look out for Minnesota’s middle class,” June 20), I thought leftists generally had taken a firm and principled stand, objecting to the supposedly corrosive effects of Big Money in American politics. Now I think that I know better.

Soucheray: Remember freedom on this Fourth of July in Woodbury
Have you ever thought about what freedom really feels like? Do we spend any time thinking about this question? Or do we simply take the ideal of being able to move about as we wish, live where we decide to purchase a home and send our children to whatever school we choose for granted?

Letter to the editor: There’s a reason public health care came to exist in the United States
Fascinating: Linda Stanton wants to return to the 1950s. Which part of the '50s does Ms. Stanton regard so fondly - the limited opportunities for women? Jewish quotas at universities? Segregation and Jim Crow?
