Letter to the editor: Weik fits the bill
There are many reasons why one decides to support one candidate over another when they are first running for office. For me, the important issues are always: what kind of commitment do they show; how dedicated are they to the position for which they are running; how well do they listen to their constituents; how concerned are they about their community; and, once elected, will they fulfill the promises they have made?

SOUCHERAY: What a wonderful world indeed
Well, I wrote three years ago, nearly to the day, about our daughter’s wedding and being mother of the bride. Now our son is getting married to a wonderful young woman, someone he met three years ago, so now I will be mother of the groom. As we prepare for next weekend and all the festivities that will ensue, I am in awe of our son’s choice of a mate and the joy we can see that has come into his life with her sweetness and her kind manner. And she’s amazingly organized, as well.

Letter to the editor: Remakel is creative problem solver
I have known Nancy Remakel professionally and personally for 38 years. We taught in South Washington County schools for all of that time. She was a talented science teacher for the district. She has always been a responsible and reliable person and a pillar of strength for her students, her friends and her co-workers.

East Ridge football: Upset falls short; No. 4 Stillwater escapes with 24-21 win
On Friday it was shoulda, coulda, woulda for the East Ridge football team. Once again, East Ridge proved they could compete with the state’s top teams, but once again, the Raptors were unable to pull off an upset.
